Glow (SAB)

Music by Eric Whitacre, arranged by Emily Crocker

The SAB version of Glow by Eric Whitacre (arranged by Emily Crocker) adapts this hauntingly beautiful winter carol for three-part choirs of Soprano, Alto, and Baritone.

In this arrangement, Whitacre’s signature shimmering harmonies are scaled to work with fewer parts, yet still preserve the lush textures that make the piece feel evocative and atmospheric.

The lyrics by Edward Esch—snow falling, wintertide awakening, earth “aglow”—give sparkle to the SAB voicings, which often alternate between gentle unison lines and soft three-part harmony, allowing choirs to highlight both clarity and blend.

The piano accompaniment (or alternative string parts) supports the voices with warmth and restraint, enhancing the mood without overwhelming the delicate vocal lines. Overall, this version offers choirs with mixed or treble-leaning voices a chance to perform Glow in a way that emphasises its gentle lyricism and seasonal wonder.

Arranged for SAB voices.
